How Archiet compares with the enterprise architecture suites

Short answer (August 2026)

The five platforms compared here are more mature than Archiet on repository depth, governance breadth and analyst cover, and for large estates with formal EA governance they are usually the safer buy today. Four of them — SAP LeanIX, Ardoq, Bizzdesign and Bizzdesign Hopex — do not list code generation among their capabilities at all; the fifth, Sparx Enterprise Architect, does mature round-trip code engineering from models rather than spec-driven generation. Archiet is the early-stage Architecture Intelligence option: application-portfolio and capability intelligence (Iyene), AI prompt-to-diagram modelling in ArchiMate 3.2, C4, UML and BPMN (Etione), and pre-release spec-driven code generation behind a verification gate (Ifiok). Choose the incumbent for institutional scale; evaluate Archiet if you are mid-market and want models that become software.

Each page below was written from primary sources — vendor pricing pages, press releases, regulatory filings, product documentation — and each claim carries the date it was checked. Every page also states plainly when the competitor is the better choice, because a comparison that never concedes anything is not a comparison.

Two of the five are the same corporate group after the 2024–2025 consolidation: Bizzdesign acquired MEGA International and the Alfabet business, so a HOPEX or Alfabet evaluation is now a Bizzdesign evaluation. Both pages cover that from the merged entity’s side.

Every comparison

Archiet vs SAP LeanIX

The mature, Gartner-recognised suite for large, SAP-centric estates — versus an Architecture Intelligence platform for mid-market teams that want models to become software.

Archiet vs MEGA HOPEX

HOPEX now ships as Bizzdesign Hopex after the January 2025 merger — the page covers the verified timeline, the five-to-seven-year roadmap pledge, and what the merger means for your comparison.

Archiet vs Ardoq

A graph-native, five-time Gartner Leader that relaunched AI-first in May 2026 — versus a model-to-execution platform with open notations and pre-release code generation.

Archiet vs Bizzdesign

The merged Bizzdesign–MEGA–Alfabet group (~EUR 110 m revenue, ~2,000 organisations) — versus a focused, practitioner-built platform. Also covers "Alfabet alternative" intent.

Archiet vs Sparx Enterprise Architect

The deepest, cheapest-per-seat desktop modeling tool (perpetual licenses from US$245) — versus a browser-native platform with AI prompt-to-diagram and portfolio intelligence.

Which one should you be looking at?

Start from the constraint that actually decides it, not from the vendor shortlist:

  • You run hundreds or thousands of applications on an SAP-centric estate. SAP LeanIX — application-based pricing with unlimited users, SAP reference catalogs, and Leader placement in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for EA tools five years running.
  • You are re-evaluating because your vendor merged. Read the MEGA HOPEX page for the verified merger timeline and the five-to-seven-year roadmap pledge, and the Bizzdesign page for the merged Bizzdesign–MEGA–Alfabet group as a whole.
  • You want AI agents reasoning over a mature graph of live enterprise data. Ardoq — a graph-native platform that relaunched AI-first on 28 May 2026 with an agent catalogue it estimates automates roughly 40% of routine EA work.
  • You need maximum notation depth offline at the lowest per-seat cost. Sparx Enterprise Architect — perpetual desktop licenses from US$245, UML 2.5, SysML, BPMN 2.0 and Open Group certified ArchiMate 3.1.
  • You need strategic portfolio management, BPM and GRC in one contract. Bizzdesign or Bizzdesign Hopex — Archiet does not offer SPM, BPM or GRC suites, and says so on both pages.
  • You want architecture that reaches working code, at mid-market economics. That is the case for Archiet: open modelling standards in Etione, portfolio intelligence in Iyene, and pre-release genome-to-code generation across 12 stacks in Ifiok, behind a verification gate that has caught real defects.

Frequently asked questions

How does Archiet compare with SAP LeanIX, MEGA HOPEX, Ardoq, Bizzdesign and Sparx EA?

All five are more mature than Archiet as enterprise repositories, and each has strengths Archiet does not attempt — LeanIX for large SAP-centric estates, Ardoq for graph-native analytics at scale, Bizzdesign and Hopex for governance, risk and compliance breadth, and Sparx for notation depth at the lowest per-seat cost. Archiet is an Architecture Intelligence platform: Iyene for application-portfolio and capability intelligence, Etione for AI prompt-to-diagram modelling in ArchiMate 3.2, C4, UML and BPMN, and Ifiok (pre-release) for spec-driven code generation across 12 stacks behind a verification gate.

Which enterprise architecture vendors merged recently?

Two consolidations matter for a 2026 shortlist. SAP completed its acquisition of LeanIX on 8 November 2023 for €1,231 million in cash, and LeanIX is now increasingly sold inside SAP commercial events alongside Signavio and BTP. Separately, Bizzdesign closed its acquisition of MEGA International on 9 January 2025 and added the Alfabet business the same day, creating a group of roughly €110 million revenue, about 2,000 customer organisations and 600+ employees; mega.com now 301-redirects to bizzdesign.com, and Bizzdesign has committed to individual product roadmaps for five to seven years (all verified 2026-08-13).

Do these enterprise architecture tools publish pricing?

Only Sparx does. Sparx Enterprise Architect lists perpetual per-seat licenses at US$245 (Professional) to US$750 (Ultimate), each including 12 months of updates and support. SAP LeanIX and Ardoq both price per application with unlimited users and publish no rate card; Bizzdesign and Bizzdesign Hopex are quote-based, with an AWS Marketplace listing showing Horizzon from $10,000 for a 12-month contract. Archiet scopes platform engagements through an Evidence Sprint call, and Ifiok has a free tier as early access (all verified 2026-08-13).

Which of these tools generate code from architecture models?

Sparx Enterprise Architect has mature forward, reverse and round-trip code engineering across ActionScript, Ada, C/C++, C#, Java, PHP, Python, Delphi, VB.Net, Verilog, VHDL and more. SAP LeanIX, Ardoq, Bizzdesign and Bizzdesign Hopex do not list code generation among their published capabilities. Archiet approaches it differently: Ifiok compiles a specification into an Architectural Genome and generates code across 12 stacks, gated by a verification step that has caught real defects. Ifiok is pre-release (verified 2026-08-13).

Is Archiet certified for any compliance framework?

No. Compliance frameworks are mapped inside the Archiet platform, not certified or conformance-tested against, and every page in this cluster states that plainly. If you need a certified or attested toolchain, verify requirements with your compliance team before adopting any generation tool — ours included.
